How to Select the Proper Process Air Heater Element Style for your application

Of course, you can contact Thermal Products Inc. directly to discuss your application, and our design engineers will assist in selecting the optimal solution.

General Guidelines:

As a general guideline, selecting the proper Indeeco process air heater begins with defining key operating parameters such as required outlet air temperature, airflow velocity, air quality, and the mechanical environment.

Applications involving clean, dry air with stable airflow and requiring fast temperature response at the lowest installed cost are typically best suited for open coil process air heaters.

Applications with moderate contaminants, moisture droplets, higher airflow rates, or less uniform airflow are often better served by finned tubular process air heaters due to their improved heat transfer performance, airflow tolerance, and durability.

For harsh environments, dirty or conductive air streams, very high velocities, or applications requiring maximum mechanical protection and personnel safety, tubular process air heaters are generally recommended because of their sealed, rugged construction.

Installation constraints—including duct size, mounting orientation, available electrical supply—along with safety requirements and duty cycle should always be verified to ensure long-term reliability and service life.

Indeeco’s Process Air Heater Offering Includes Three Primary Heating Element Styles:

Open Coil Heaters

High heat transfer efficiency and fast thermal response. Most economical option for clean air applications with stable airflow.

Tubular Heaters

Rugged, sealed construction that protects the heating element from contaminants, vibration, and harsh environments.

Finned Tubular Heaters

Increased surface area for improved heat transfer in higher airflow applications with better tolerance to airflow variation.

These configurations allow Indeeco to cover a wide range of process temperatures, airflow rates, and industrial environments while maintaining reliable performance and long service life.
